Chapter 3

"Fear and pain are power - enjoy"
extract from the Tenets of Darkness

The raven haired beauty entered the Darkness. This room always made her feel disembodied, devoid as it was of all light. He was here, though. She could feel his presence all around her. Not for the first time, she wondered what he looked like and why he dwelt in this Darkness.

She knelt and in carefully neutral tones said softly "I felt you call, Master."

A sibilant hiss seemed to fill the room "She comes".

Both the words and the voice sent a shiver down her spine. She said softly "I'm ready, Master. You've seen the power". Her voice rose a little with excitement, and she continued "I'll have her soon enough." She paused in confusion, afraid that she'd revealed too much and then finished carefully "I'll have her kneeling before you again, Master".

The voice dripped with scorn as it replied "Do that, Lysis. Yes, do that".

She felt his attention turn from her. Relieved, she hurriedly left the room.
